ACNE IN A NUTSHELL - what it is and what to pay attention to.

TRĄDZIK W PIGUŁCE - czyli czym jest i na co zwrócić uwagę.

Papules, pustules, "Stefki" and other enemies... there are many terms, but the problem is always the same - acne vulgaris! Read about what it is, what causes it, intensifies it and what to pay special attention to to quickly get rid of the problem! Here's what you need - Acne in a nutshell! :)

Let's start from the beginning…

What is acne vulgaris?

Acne vulgaris is, above all, a disease ! Which means that it should not be underestimated and must be treated! Hormonal changes play a huge role here - increased estrogen production and abnormal biochemical transformation of testosterone - these hormones are responsible for initiating the puberty process and developing sexual characteristics, but their work is continuous and does not end when we enter adulthood, on the contrary.

So remember that acne is not just a teenager's disease.

How does acne vulgaris develop?

Improper functioning of the above-mentioned hormones leads to: hyperplasia of the sebaceous glands , which leads to overproduction of sebum/sebum and then to increased keratinization of the epidermis and clogging of the sebaceous glands , i.e. the formation of blackheads visible to the naked eye.

Apart from being a cosmetic defect, they are an ideal living place for bacteria that live there in huge numbers, feed on excessively produced sebum and cause inflammatory infiltrates (manifested by redness and often painful pimples).

Constantly recurring acne

This is a vicious circle, caused mainly by excessive cleansing and drying of the skin, a problem that still affects many of you. How to avoid it?

  • Firstly - remember to visit a specialist .
  • Secondly - be aware that a day, two or three is not enough time to notice the differences. Systematicity is the key to success, also in this case. Just as one handful of kale will not get rid of anemia in a week, this time is not enough for our skin to renew itself. It needs about 28 days to regenerate! So think about how much you can spend on fighting unwanted guests! Take care of yourself, eat healthily and moisturize your skin properly :)
  • Thirdly - protect it against water loss! Care strictly focused on antibacterial/anti-acne products may cause you to get rid of the protective layer on your skin and, as a defense, it will start producing even greater amounts of sebum/sebum, which means further formation of blackheads.

Golden advice? Enzymatic peelings once a week, twice a week cleansing soap with active carbon , supporting the fight against acne and regulating excess sebum. Reserve the next days for moisturizing products, you can use e.g. soap with white clay or soap with pink clay that will soothe your skin.

Also don't forget about cleansing with oils , which is the first step of proper cleansing. :)

Proper cleansing is the key to success for acne-prone skin.

I have already written about the importance of cleansing, especially for problematic skin, in the post "The use of oils in facial cleansing" , to which I am happy to refer you for more detailed information.

Remember that only water-based products (natural soaps, gels, foams, etc.) are not able to thoroughly clean your pores (and thus protect against the growth of bacteria) . Because these are only oils that are chemically fats, they can combine with the sebum/sebum remaining there, having the same structure (according to the principle "like dissolves in like").

That's why two-stage cleansing is so important - first oil , then a "water" product (soap, gel, etc.).

In addition to thoroughly cleansing pores and preventing the growth of bacteria and thus acne, oils during cleansing, they perfectly moisturize and help protect the skin. :)

What influences the development of acne

There can be lots of reasons! Pay particular attention to:

  • hormonal function (it may be useful to test the level of sex hormones, pituitary gland and adrenal glands in the blood),
  • stress - intensifying the action of androgens, responsible for excessive sebum production,
  • thyroid disease and thyroiditis - hashimoto (TSH test, anti-TPO, anti-TG),
  • excess dairy products in the diet,
  • smoking,
  • drugs,
  • alcohol,
  • improper skin care - irritating cleansing, too little moisturization of problematic skin, improper exfoliation of the epidermis.

Remember that the key to getting rid of acne is comprehensive action, early diagnosis and regularity. So visit specialists who will choose the right form of treatment for you, eat healthily and take care of your home care, stay healthy! :)
